AI lead follow-up for property brokers
Ask a broker why a lead did not convert and you will usually hear that the budget did not match or the buyer went quiet. The second one is not a reason. It is a description of what happened after the third day, when nobody followed up because there was nothing scheduled and no one whose job it was.
Follow-up is unglamorous, entirely mechanical, and the single largest recoverable loss in a brokerage pipeline. It is also the thing humans are worst at doing consistently, because it is boring and the payoff is delayed.
What automated follow-up actually does
A sequence attached to a lead that has gone quiet, sending on a schedule you set, in the buyer’s language, stopping the moment they respond.
The constraint nobody mentions until you have bought
Meta’s customer service window is 24 hours from the buyer’s last message. Inside it, you can send anything, free and unlimited. Outside it, you cannot send an ordinary message at all — only a pre-approved template, and one that re-engages a cold lead is classified as marketing, the most expensive category.
We set out what that research actually supports — including why the famous 21× figure is weaker evidence than it is usually presented as.
Where this fails
It will not replace a broker on a warm lead. Its job is to keep a buyer engaged until a person is available, and to make sure that person walks in knowing the budget, the configuration and the timeline.
Automated follow-up cannot rescue a lead that was never real. If the traffic source is a bought list or an incentivised form fill, faster and more persistent messaging produces blocks, a falling quality rating on your number, and eventually a restriction. The mechanism rewards relevance and punishes volume, deliberately.
Common questions
How many follow-ups is too many?
On WhatsApp, fewer than on email. It is a personal channel and a block costs you more than a lost lead — a block damages the sender quality rating on the number itself. Space them out, stop on any negative signal, and stop entirely once someone has said no.
Does following up cost money?
It depends entirely on timing. Inside Meta's 24-hour customer service window, replies are free. Once that window closes, re-opening the conversation requires a paid template, and re-engagement templates are marketing-category — the most expensive kind.
Can the AI follow up with a lead who never replied at all?
Only via an approved template, and only if you have a lawful basis to message them. A lead who submitted a form on your site and consented is different from a number bought in a list. The second is how numbers get blocked and eventually banned.
What stops it messaging someone who already bought?
Sequences stop on reply, on booking, and on any human takeover. A rep marking the lead closed ends the sequence.
Does it follow up in Hindi?
The AI replies in the language the buyer writes in, including transliterated Hindi. Templates are a separate matter: each language variant is submitted to Meta and approved separately.
